I love Thanksgiving. It is perhaps one of my favorite holidays of the year. Family and friends, good food, and warm sentiments. I have been trying to capture those thoughts in autumn table runners that I have been making for craft shows.

This is a quilt-as-you-go pattern where you piece the braids on to the batting directly, almost like paper-piecing. It makes the runner come together quickly, and the effect is quite beautiful. Fabric selection is critical for this runner. I personally love starting with a focus fabric – in this case autumn leaves – and then going from light to dark. Both the inner border/binding and polka dot larger border help pull the colors together.

I love the touches of metallics in these prints from Hoffman Fabrics. The center fabric, borders and binding are from my stash but worked perfectly together.
