I love making baby quilts. They are so much fun and the instant gratification part if getting done quickly isn’t all bad either. I made these two as a custom order for my friend Tony. He is giving these as a special gift for his niece’s newborn baby girls.
He had asked for something that was consistent for both with a unique aspect for each girl. I used this awesome fabric, Giggles by Moda, in two color ways. Charm squares and skinny strips helped it go together quickly.
I made them a little but larger than I usually do baby quilts to create ample opportunity for the color story to develop. I kept going back and forth as to which I liked better and then I decided that I don’t have to pick.
For quilting I did a freehand all over pattern of swirls, loops, hearts and flowers. I am pleased with the result and hope Tony is too!

Just wanted to let you know my nephew and his wife (and the twins) loved the quilts!
They use them often! Added bonus, the pink and the lavender were the perfect choice. That’s the color scheme they dress each of the girls in! Yay!
