While out at QuiltCon in Pasadena, Jen and I also had an opportunity to visit Nee Moon Textiles. It is a large shop with a wide variety of fabric, Bernina machines, and a good selection of notions, thread and patterns. They also have a nice sale room in the back that was well stocked.
When you first enter the shop, there is an alcove to the left (far end of this photo) of fabric beyond quilters, cottons for apparel and other purposes. That was nice to see.
There are several areas that allow you to browse fabric by color way. I find shopping this way quite convenient as most times I pull some fabric for a quilt from my stash. They did however have the Moda Grunge mixed in with the color ways which made it touch to find all the colors I need for a current work-in-progress.
Beyond having fabric organized by color, there were several other rows of collections, themes, or other groupings, i.e. Batiks. It was impressive that despite having a booth at QuiltCon, the shop didn’t feel empty.
They had a big notions wall and several thread varieties including larger spools for longarm use. They also had some ribbons and trims which I found helpful.nindint recall seeing many shop samples, but that may have been just me as I was on a Grunge hunt.
The staff was friendly and we appreciated that they took the time to make a dinner suggestion for us out-of-towners. If you are in Pasadena I would make the trip to visit them at 1756 E Colorado Blvd. If not you can check them out online at http://www.newmoontextiles.com.
