My embroidery thread is organized by color on these racks from JoAnn Fabrics. They are mounted on the wall next to my sewing machine. This works really well for thread that I need to grab quickly, but wasn’t convenient for for back-up colors of embroidery thread or cotton for piecing. 

Oddly and out of the blue, I remembered that I have an antique medicine chest that I bought in upstate NY over a decade ago. Rob was cleaning the garage so I had him bring it in. And got him to hang it too! It is perfect to store thread. Given the front is glass you can see in to see the colors and they look so pretty!

I don’t have all the thread loaded in yet but this works great. I have a ton of other piecing thread to add. I love that I can use my thread as a decoration. 😀 of course the longarm thread is still a hot mess, but that is a project for another day!
