Our friend Chris turned 30 in February. I had started making him a birthday quilt, scrappy blues and the Tula Pink City Sampler, but after 4 blocks I knew that it was too scrappy for Chris’s OCD. That quilt would have driven him nuts. So when I saw Moda’s True Blue line, I knew I had my answer.

The pattern is from a magazine, which I can’t remember, but is obviously just squares in squares. Simple, modern and classic. Chris is a digital strategist and I love how some of the fabric has a digital look to it.

I am so relieved I got this done for him before a year passed! Happy 30th birthday Chris. You are a great friend and a great colleague and a quilt is the least I could do to celebrate your awesomeness!
