Well, this really isn’t a new hobby. I used to have a Bernina embroidery machine but as my daughter went from being a cute little girl to an independent teen I found myself doing less and less. So I sold the machine on eBay and filed machine embroidery under the category of “retired” in my crafting history.
Of course I missed it. I was always very productive at piecing a quilt and running the embroidery machine at the same time. I had folks ask for personalized Christmas stockings. And, I kept coming up with ideas of things to make for holiday gifts and craft show. So we did it and considered this the year of finishing my dream sewing room with an embroidery machine to keep the two regular (ancient) Berninas and longarm machine company.
Wow, what a difference a decade makes. I was able to get right back into it but the machine is much more sophisticated. For one, I was able to log in to my old Embroidery.com account and download hundreds of designs I had previously purchased and save them to a USB to use on the machine. And, the machine automatically does locking stitches and cuts the thread for you. Pretty soon it will thread itself!!!
My inaugural effort was a couple of Easter tea towels. I need to order some towels in spring colors but these were great practice to get back into the groove.
Happy New Year, y’all.
