I am home from work for a few weeks recuperating from surgery. My friends and colleagues have been so generous with surprises to keep me cheery – flowers, books, candles, snacks – and these few are just from the second floor! As happy as these sweet gifts make me, it is a bummer to be home and not be able to work and not be able to sew. I am just not a “sit still” kind of girl.
Then I realized, I may not be able to sew, but I can shop! It really is two hobbies – the sewing and quilting and the fabric collecting.
I finally got my hands on some Art Gallery Fabrics denim. This is a set of 1/2 yard cuts of the solids. I want to get some for apparel but started with this to experiment before buying yardage.
I grabbed these two prints as well. The one on the left will make a really cool table runner for summer. And the one on the right would be awesome for a summer skirt.
I grabbed these solids to make a boys, and then a girls houndstooth pattern quilt. I have an idea for a cutout with some embroidery and these will be the practice pieces.
Beyond a few other stash builders, I grabbed these charm squares from the Robert Kaufman Blueberry collection. I bought the cool color way at QuiltCon and made it into a table runner. I actually liked it so much that I didn’t finish it and bought a second pack to make it into a lap quilt. And then bought two of the bright color way to make a companion piece.
So many projects but I can’t get down to the studio yet. So for now I shop and create ideas and patterns for projects.
