We left for Maine Friday afternoon with the idea to visit a few quilt shops on the way up. Unfortunately the traffic patterns had other plans, but I was very happy with the two I visited. The first is reviewed here.
This is a lovely shop with lots of options across all types of fabric – traditional, seasonal, novelty, batiks and anything else you may need. I really liked the variety of fall and winter fabric they had and while my tastes run a little more modern, they have a wide variety.
I was especially looking for batiks on this visit and was not disappointed. They had yardage and fat quarters which suited me well for the quilt I am collecting for. Beyond the batiks, I also grabbed a bunch of awesome and unusual seasonal prints for fall.
This shop sells machines and therefore has all sorts of supplies for quilting and embroidery. They also have a nice selection of patterns. If you come here you will leave with more than you needed – but it will all be beautiful.
They have a spacious classroom. I love having personal space when I take a class and it was inspiring to see so many samples everywhere you look.
This quilt that hands in the classroom is inspiring. I love the palette and the pattern. It makes great use of the focus fabric and would look amazing on a wall in my home. 😀
If you can visit Yankee Quilter, I recommend it. The shopkeepers are lovely and take the time to talk to their customers and offer help. We had to get on the road or I would have stayed even longer, but I will be back.
Yankee Quilter is in the Westwood Plaza Shopping Center at 5 Klarides Village Drive in Seymour, CT or online at http://www.yankeequilter.com.
