Design Inspiration

I was in Chicago for work and had a meeting at The James Hotel. There is a lot of great art throughout the property, but this piece definitely caught my eye in terms of quilty inspiration. Called “Cascade Scales” it is made primarily of plywood that is dyed and sealed and then attached with cord. The artist is Dan Gunn. I though his would be really cool if done as individual super mini quilts that were then attached. Here is a close up:

I love finding unique sources of design inspiration and this piece definitely got me thinking. I will definitely check out this artist’s other work!
