Getting Started on Nebula

We are super excited to be hosting the Nebula block of the month program at Cotton Candy Fabrics. The quilt is impressive and looks daunting to complete. But with easy-to-use rulers and no Y seams it goes together much easier than you think. Here is how the finished quilt looks…

Nebula Block of the Month

We will be hosting a monthly sewalong to work on the blocks – in the shop and via Webex so everyone can participate. We’re starting Monday with block one. I made the sample today:

Nebula Month One Block

I have some tips and tricks to constructing this block that I will share Wednesday night, but if you are making this on your own I definitely recommend squaring your fabric before you start. Don’t fret as they were very generous with the amount of fabric needed and you have enough to square the fabric, cut your strips, and save some for a scrap project later.

Block One – Reminder to Square Fabric Before Cutting

I love the hexy diamond this block makes and it is very striking through the block…I thought about trying to find a way to match the hexies but then my head started to hurt. LOL.

If you would like to join in the Nebula block of the month or want the link to join the class virtually, send me a note to erin at cottoncandyfabrcis dot com. Happy sewing!
