Apparently Maddie is going to get a new quilt for college every year. Last year she got a modern cactus quilt that features a piece of a tapestry she found at Target with colorblocking. This year she went all in on the cactus theme with the Greenhouse quilt designed by Elizabeth Hartman.
This block features 6 different flower or cactus blocks, with 9 of each. I followed the pattern pretty closely and used Hartman’s Terrarium fabric for the quilt. Maddie selected a sunny Kona cotton solid for the back and we quilted it in a simple end-to-end leaf pattern.
As complicated as the blocks look, they all use standard piecing techniques. Lots of small squares, sewn on the diagonal to create the required shapes help these blocks go together quickly.
The quilt looks great on her bed and I think she likes it!
